We adore you O Christ and we bless you,
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
主キリスト、あなたを礼拝し、賛美します。
あなたは尊い十字架とご死去をもって、世をあがなってくださいました。
◆Station 13 — Jesus is taken down from the cross ／イエス、十字架より下ろされる
Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left
on the crosses during the Sabbath,
they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.
さて、ユダヤ人たちは、その日が準備の日であったので、
安息日に死体を十字架の上に残しておくまいと、
ピラノに願って、足を折った上で、死体を取りおろすことにした。
But when the soldiers came to Jesus and found that he was already dead,
they did not break his legs.
しかし、彼らがイエスのところにきた時、イエスはもう死んでおられたのを見て、
その足を折ることはしなかった。
Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear,
bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
しかし、ひとりの兵卒がやりでそのわきを突き刺すと、
すぐ血と水とが流れ出た。（ヨハネ19:31-34）
Lord, what is was like for your mother and your followers
to receive your lifeless body?
Though washed by the water of Baptism and nourished by the Eucharist,
I sometimes feel confused and alone.
Strengthen my trust in you.
主よ、あなたの母や従っていた者達にとって、
魂を失ったあなたの身体を受け取るということは、どのようだったのでしょうか？
洗礼の水によって洗われ、御聖体によって養われているにもかかわらず、
まだ私は時々混乱したり、また一人ぼっちのような気になってしまいます。
どうぞあなたへの信頼をますます強めて下さい。
Lord Jesus Crucified, have mercy on us.
十字架にかけられたイエスよ、我らをあわれんで下さい。
